Our Policies

CANCELLATION POLICY
  1. If the teacher arrives at the home and the student is not there, the lesson must be paid for.
  2. Cancelled lessons must be called in to your teacher with 24 hour's notice to avoid charges for the lesson.
  3. If you cancel by noon the day of the lesson, the lesson must be paid for, but the teacher will make the lesson up.
  4. Teachers may cancel a lesson within 24 hours notice and in the case of duress a last minute cancellation is tolerated (s/he is stuck in traffic, etc.).
  5. If you wish to terminate lessons, please inform the school at least a week in advance.
BUSINESS POLICY
  1. Lessons are paid for in advance by the month, either by check or credit card (on our website) at the beginning of the month unless other provisions have been made.
  2. If you have made provisions to pay weekly, it is required that you leave a one-lesson deposit. If lessons are terminated, this deposit will be applied to the last lesson.
  3. Please make checks payable to the Kathryn Brickell Music.
  4. We do not accept cash. Please make payments by personal check, money order, or credit card. Credit card payments can be made at our secure website.
  5. Customers must reimburse the school for returned check bank fees.

DETAILS
  1. Please call for information about lesson fees or to request a brochure.
  2. There are no additional fees aside from sheet music, music books or other materials for which you may reimburse the school.
  3. Lessons will be scheduled either by the school or by the teacher, in consultation with the student.
  4. Teachers are available to make up missed lessons if schedules permit.
  5. If you wish to refer a friend or relative to your teacher, please inform the school by phone. A discount is available for referrals.
  6. Practice expectations and lesson preparations are dictated by your teacher and/or decided upon when the teacher confers with the student’s parents (in the case of a child). All programs are individually tailored to the student!
  7. In most cases, repertoire (songs/pieces) is chosen by the teacher as s/he sees fit. Special requests are always honored if the request in within the reach of the student’s capabilities.
  8. We do not require any special type of instrument for use in the lesson. This refers to digital/electric versus acoustic pianos and guitars.
  9. Feel free to contact the school at any time regarding any pertinent issues to your experience with us.
  10. Parental involvement is optional with respect to presence at the lessons as well as practice.
  11. We don’t require students to participate in our recitals, but it is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED!
  12. We offer NYSSMA preparation. If you wish to participate, please inform your teacher well in advance.
  13. We specialize in successful student/ teacher matching. If you feel your teacher is not a good match, please don’t hesitate to call us and discuss.
